Sailing

Sailing at Port Melbourne is both friendly and competitive with good numbers in our Laser, Jolly Boat, Musto and various Cat classes including the F18's and Hobies.

Club boats are available to members on race days for a small cost.

The main classes of monohull boats sailed at PMYC include: Pacer; Laser, RS Aero, Musto Skiffs and the classic 18 ft. Jolly Boat.
The main classes of catamarans include: Taipan, Hobie Cat, Viper, F18 and C2.
Even if you have a different class boat you can sail in races and compete in the Club handicap events. The Club prides itself on its friendly and competitive sailing.

The Club holds races on most Saturdays during the season from October to May. Some special  events are also held on Sundays and a Spring Season is held in September.

Visiting sailors are welcome to bring their own yachts and race for a small fee to cover insurance of $20 or $10 for members of other sailing clubs (per person).
