Event information

We’re wrapping up our Winter Series events with a refresher (and reminder!) on the Rules of Sailing, facilitated by Paul Pascoe.

Paul will provide clear, practical explanations of those tricky rules that we somehow manage to interpret differently on the water! Ever wondered who really has right of way when things get close at the start line or mark? This is your chance to find out!

Paul has been a National and International Judge since 1990, officiating at regattas across Europe, the Americas, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. He has been Chairman of the Jury for 12 Hobie Worlds, and his most recent jury assignment was as Chairman of the Jury at the Etchells Worlds in San Diego.

Paul and his wife were twice UK National Hobie 16 Champions, and Paul was a coach for the British Olympic Team at the 1996 Olympics.

Paul will cover some of the tricky situations we regularly encounter, including:

  • Starting manoeuvres
  • Mark-room
  • Right-of-way situations
  • Taking penalties
  • Contact between boats

If there are any specific rules or situations you’d like Paul to cover, please let me know. We’d love to see you there to wrap up the Winter Series events with another big crowd and enjoyable evening at the Club.

The bar will be open.  Please bring a plate to share.
